Avian Odyssey 2024

Neotropical Birding and Conservation was represented at last weekend’s day of talks (21st September 2024) at the Natural History Museum by Professor Joe Tobias of Imperial College London. He gave a talk entitled South America – the Bird Continent, where he whizzed the audience through some of the region’s stand-out species and their conservation, tying in with the theme of the event, Birds: Brilliant and Bizarre.

As well as speakers from the other regional bird clubs, there were presentations from Juliet Vickery of the BTO, Kevin Cox from the RSPB, Ken Norris from the NHM on the importance of museums for conservation and Nigel Collar from Birdlife International.

Thanks to the British Ornithologists’ Club and the NHM for hosting and when links for the talks are sent out, NBC will post them via the website and social media. We will also publicise Avian Odyssey 2025 when details are available. If you can get to London it promises to be a stimulating day if 2024 was anything to go by.
